About our Dinnerware
Like our tile, FLM Ceramics stoneware is hard to place on any timeline; it fits in a contemporary kitchen, yet it references the past. It’s like antique ware from any given part of the world though it’s meant to be used daily. Our stoneware is as comfortable on a formal dining table as it is in your car's drink holder, and like cast iron, it just keeps getting better with age. Designed by Forrest Lesch-Middelton, our stoneware is made as a blank on a 30 ton press and each mug is trimmed, pattern is applied, and handles are added by skilled potter's hands so that each pot retains a unique feel from one to the next.
Caring for your FLM Ceramics Stoneware
Like Cast Iron, our stoneware is best when it is used often and cared for properly. It is dishwasher and microwave safe, and although seasoning it is not a necessity, it is recommended periodically. Each of our pieces will come to you “pre-seasoned”, this process allows the outer unglazed surface to absorb the natural oil and repel future oils and stains making it easier to care for and clean. We recommend that you wipe down your pots with mineral or walnut oil annually, or any time you notice the surface appearing to dry out. After applying a mild amount of oil let the pot sit for about 5 minutes and then wipe clean. We eat off of our FLM stoneware at home, run it through the dishwasher, cook with it, and eat foods off of it that contain oils and spices that would stain most pots. We have never re-seasoned ours and they have stood the test of time with no blemishes or stains which we attribute to their regular use!
